Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect the following, and nothing beyond what is listed here.

• Gameplay data. Your guesses, results, skill rating, experience and streaks, so the game can show your progress and rank your play.
• Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive and store your email address. We use it to identify your account and nothing else.
• Technical information. Your IP address, browser user agent, the domain you played on and your time zone offset. The time zone offset determines when your daily puzzle resets.
• Referral information. The web address that linked you to Headle and any campaign parameters in the address you arrived on (for example utm_source). This tells us which sites and campaigns bring players to the game.

2. How we use it

• To run the game, save your progress and calculate ratings and streaks.
• To understand how players find Headle and how the game is used, so we can improve it.
• To keep the service secure and to diagnose faults.
• To display advertising, where and when we show it, as described in the next section.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Advertising

Headle is free to play, and we intend to keep it that way by supporting it with advertising. We do not currently display ads. When we do, they will be supplied by Google, and we may work with other advertising partners in future. This section describes how advertising works on Headle so that you know what to expect; it takes effect at the point ads appear on the site.

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on sites that carry its advertising. Once Headle carries ads, its use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to Headle and other sites on the internet.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and how you interact with ads. This information may be used to show you ads that are more relevant to you and to measure how ads perform.
• These vendors collect this information directly and it is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of personalised advertising by many other vendors at aboutads.info or optout.networkadvertising.org.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Headle uses cookies for the following purposes.

• Essential. A session cookie identifies your browser so your game progress can be saved and restored. Signing in sets an authentication cookie. These are required for the game to work.
• Advertising. Once Headle carries advertising, Google and other advertising partners will set cookies to serve and measure ads, as described above. No advertising cookies are set today.
• Support. Our support chat widget, provided by Tawk.to, sets cookies so a conversation can continue across visits.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will prevent the game from saving your progress.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make Headle work:

• Google — sign-in, and advertising once it is enabled.
• Vercel — hosting and delivery of the site.
• Tawk.to — the in-game support chat.
• Our database provider, which stores the gameplay and account data described above.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

6. Data retention

Gameplay and account records are kept while your account is active so your rating, experience and streaks remain accurate. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data. Anonymous session records that are not linked to an account may be retained for statistical purposes.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to certain processing, or to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email hi@headle.app and we will respond within the period the law requires.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our lawful bases for processing are your consent for advertising and analytics cookies, and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the game.

8. Children

Headle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised date at the top.
